Troubleshooting Tips: Common Hydraulic Power Unit Issues and Solutions

Converting mechanical energy into hydraulic energy is the primary function of hydraulic power units, which resemble powerful mechanical energy. These are all-in-one systems that use hydraulic power's flow and pressure to drive motion. Think of it as the force pushing cylinders, motors, and other components in a hydraulic system.

These hydraulic power units can do a variety of tasks. But often, people face common problems with these pumps that could impact the output and product quality. What are these problems, and how to deal with them? Here's an overview.

Common Issues and Solutions:

1. Problem: Pump Not Delivering Fluid Properly

Confirm that the pump is rotating in the correct direction. To help you navigate, look at the arrow on the pump.

Take it out, and examine the pump if the drive shaft is damaged or the key is broken. Adjust as necessary.

If the oil is very thick, replace it or unclog the intake pipe. Check the filters and maintain a clean system.

2. Problem: Hydraulic System Pressure Too Low

If there is a 'Low Pressure,' use a pressure gauge to adjust the relief valve.

Replace the rotor sets and take corrective action if leaks are caused by worn pump parts.

3. Problem: Pump Making Excessive Noise

Clear clogged pipes or strainers in the intake. Cavitation may occur if the pump is unable to circulate fluid freely.

Repair air leaks at intake pipe couplings or replace faulty bearings.

Make sure that the pump motor is operating at the proper speed and the connection is aligned.

4. Problem: Pump Shaft Seal Leaking

Change out any damaged or worn seals. Look for any pressure limits.

Make sure that the fluid temperature is not high enough and the pump shaft is not misplaced for pumps operating above 400°F.

5. Problem: Pump Experiencing Excessive Heat

Examine the pump bearings for excessive thrust. The shaft must not be out of alignment.

Turn off a heated pump right away and think about doing an overhaul.

Proper maintenance, especially timely filter attention, is crucial for the smooth functioning of the hydraulic system. Regular checks and addressing issues promptly can prevent bigger problems. Never hesitate to contact our hydraulic cylinder company in India if issues are found.
