All You Need to Know About Hydraulic Cylinders

A hydraulic cylinder is basically an actuator which creates linear movement by converting the hydraulic energy back to a mechanical movement.

Now, few things immediately drill our mind are questions like, where is it used?

So, here we have enumerated almost all areas of its vast application:

1) Earth Moving equipment to lift or lower the boom, arm, or bucket specially used in work of construction.

2)Hydraulic bending machine

3)Metal sheet sheering machine

4)Particle board or Plywood making hot press

5)Aerospace industry: Particularly for such devices as landing gears and wing flaps

6)Aerial Work Platforms (AWP)

7)Agricultural: Small spraying equipment as well as harvesters, loaders and tractors

8)Automotive

9)Civil Engineering: Bulldozers, excavators, trenchers as well as attachments

10)Construction: Concrete pumps and paving applications

11)Energy: Flow controls for water gates

12)Food, production and manufacturing

13)Forestry and logging

14)Motorway repairs and maintenance

15)Mining

16)Materials handling: Single acting hydraulic cylinders for sale are commonly employed in such equipment

17)Mechanical engineering: Operation for feeding devices as well as automated production lines, plastic forming machines and transportation devices

18)Oil and gas industries

19)Recycling plants: Compressing scrap metal and other materials

20)Shipbuilding: Steering devices

Types of hydraulic cylinders?

1)Single acting cylinders

Ideal for applications in weight, gravity, or another assisting force which will move the cylinder in a single direction. Single acting cylinders are economic than double acting cylinders.

2)Double acting cylinders

Work in all angle and hence more common in use. In applications where there is assistance needed through gravity or weight, hydraulic pressure is still often used to cushion the stoppage, control acceleration, and meter the rate of travel.

3)Piggyback cylinders

Use two cylinders in opposite directions that are yoked or welded together. This means that there is twice the stroke while taking up half the space. Piggyback cylinders are idea in applications that have limited space but require a long stroke.

4)Telescopic cylinders

Like piggyback cylinders they allow for a long stroke while taking up much less space when collapsed.

Choosing the right type could be tricky

One should always consider the operating conditions. It may depend even on the temperature tolerance, humidity for marine hydraulic systems. Also, the amount of pressure, the force exerted, and space requirements.

Always choose the best quality and robust design. Look for certified manufacturers with quality assurance. Product delivered should be durable, powerful and best functional. One such manufacturer one can rely on for quality products is “HPP Group” based in Delhi. They are ISO 9001:2015 certified and are well known in the trade for their quality accepted extensive range of products with punctual delivery and easy payment methods.
